Merchants Coast-to-Coast Share Enthusiasm for SMS Masterminds

George Goldberg, owner and Mastermind of LATextSavings.com in the Los Angeles area, gave Alligator Laundromats in North Hollywood, Calif. a way to move into the digital age by getting away from traditional “punch cards.”
“This is a significantly better system [than punch cards],” Alligator Laundromat owner Bruce Bitman said of the Masterminds Loyalty Rewards Kiosk. “The system is working very well… Almost half of my customers are using the kiosk, which I did not think would happen, so I’m very, very happy about that.”
David Parker, owner and Masterminds of WickedLoyal.com in the Greater Boston area, brought local business Concord Teacakes, Inc. in Concord, Mass. a way to communicate with their customers in addition to an email list.
“We had a manual loyalty program where we were using punch-out cards for our everyday customers… it was cumbersome, it would take up a lot of staff time,” Teacakes owner Peter Mahler said.
Teacakes utilized the broadcast feature to send a text message to their database of 913 subscribers, resulting in a phenomenal traffic increase of 282%.
“We had done text messaging before by itself, and it really didn’t work out too well. We didn’t get a lot of feedback from it, but with this one we do,” Mahler said. “We get a weekly report that tells us how many people have signed up, how many offers have been redeemed. It’s very analytical… We can analyze what’s working and what’s not.”
